Resort/Cruise Trends 2011: Pastels

The Resort season is one of those odd ones. Back in the day only a few houses deigned to produce collection made especially for elite folks to wear on cruise ships while the rest of us were slogging away in winter weather. Nowadays, though, many labels produce a resort collection – even some that might into the “contemporary” category (a smidge lower than “designer”).

The season, if you can call it that, is also odd because of the way it shows – a lazy schedule spread across a few weeks. Maybe the schedule reflects the leisurely pace that one should have when on holiday. At any rate, the presentations are kicked off by major fashion houses like the legendary Chanel. Not only does she get paid to be glamourous, the almost 40-year-old mother has a body that people are still eager to feature on magazine covers – in the nude! A few short months after posing in her birthday suit for a Vogue Germany cover, Schiffer has given birth to her third child – a little girl, whose name had yet to be made public. The little bundle of joy is the latest edition to family that consists of Schiffer’s husband Matthew Vaughn and two little boys Caspar and Clementine, aged 7 and 5, respectively. Read more »
